Microsoft Wants You To Just Shut Up And Touch It

Tema: Be temos — markjuluirying @ 00:09

1.jpg

This is intense. Are you seated? Of course you’re seated, that’s a stupid question – who stands around in their laundry room reading tech news? Anyway, if, in the unlikely event you are not seated, you would like to be, please take this opportunity, because I’m about to let fly with some totally rad shizz all up in your eyeballs, or something, and I’d hate for you to, like, fall and break your wrist on the awesome I just spread all over the floor.

What a mess of an opening paragraph. Anyway, seems Microsoft is taking the concept of ‘touchscreen’ to its logical conclusion with a new patent, which will allow objects to be actually felt. I’m not talking, like, that Toshiba patent I rapped about awhile ago, with the electrical currents, but honest-to-Cthulhu felt.

The screen described in the patent, according to New Scientist, uses plastic cells that can raise individually, giving tactile feedback – which would certainly make touchscreen devices, finally, once and for all, a viable gaming platform (buttons!) and even provide the visually impaired a way to read content via braille. A polymer sprayed on the underside of the plastic pixels is UV-reactive, and depending on the wavelength of light striking said underside, the ugg boots pixel will raise to whatever height. It’s pretty cool stuff.

No telling when this shape shifting screen tech will be ready for prime time, but of note is that there’s no way currently to adapt this tech to mobile devices, due to the resolution of the, er… touch-touchscreen. It’s definitely designed with big screens in mind.

The Microsoft Surface just got a whole lot more wicked awesome.

求职必备指南:面试前准备工作

Tema: Be temos — markjuluirying @ 00:07

Thoughts such as “What if I don’t get any job offers?”, “What if I don’t get the job I want?” or “Will I accept a position that isn’t right for me?” can cause considerable upset.

越是担心,就越是紧张,面试的结果可能就越差。Here are a few notes and pointers on how to prepare for interviews and determine if this job is the right one for you.

  1. The key to reducing your anxiety is in being well-prepared for the interview. The first step towards a successful job interview is self-assessment (自我评估)。 You need to decide for yourself what kind of position you want. Since self-knowledge is the foundation of all decisions, a close scrutiny of your priorities, interests, short and long-term goals is necessary before any interview.

Remember: if you’re unsure of whether or not you want the position you’re interviewing for, it will probably show. If you don’t have a reasonably clear focus, this is the time to do some hard thinking about what kind of position you want.(确定你要应聘的职位)

  2. The second step in preparation for your interviews is to research the companies you’ll be interviewing with.(对求职公司充分了解) You should know as much about the company and the position as you possibly can. As you do your research, look for points where your interests, capabilities, goals, and personality match the company’s needs or whatever needs you think they might have.

  3. Every interviewer, whether directly or indirectly, will expect you to be able to answer questions like: (准备好常见问题)Why do you want a position in this company? What can you do for my company? There are a few of the more popular interview questions. Take some time to think about the answers, and you’ll be much more prepared to make a great impression. At a job interview, your employers will probably ask the following:

·Can you sell yourself in two minutes?

  ·What is your strongest trait(s)?(你个性上最大的特点是什么?)

·Give me a summary of your current job description。

·Why did you leave your last job?(你为什么离职呢?)

·What contribution did you make to your current (previous) organization?(你对目前/从前的工作单位有何贡献?)

·What do you think you are worth to us?(你怎么认为你对我们有价值呢?)

  ·What
new uggs make you think you would be a success in this position?(你如何知道你能胜任这份工作?)

  ·How do you define success?

·Are you able to travel? Relocate?

·Can you tell me about your
ghds skills?

·Are you able to use a computer?

·Can you describe your ideal supervisor?

·Why did you apply for this job?

·How do you use this specific computer application to solve a job-related program?

·What current issues concern you the most?(目前什么事是你最关心的?)

·What range of pay-scale are you interested in?(你喜欢那一种薪水层次标准?)

·Do you have any samples of your work?(准备好你得意的工作成果,并且随身携带,在合适的时候拿出来给面试官看,可以收到意想不到的效果。)
  4. And you’re supposed to dress properly. A suit, dress shirt and tie are usually required for men. Women should wear either a suit or a dress with a complementary jacket (外套)。 They are ALWAYS acceptable.

Those men with more limited wardrobes should wear a nice
ed hardy clothing sports coat with coordinated slacks (搭配得当的休闲裤) and shirt. Women should wear a nice jacket with coordinated skirt or slacks. You should always avoid wearing sneakers (运动鞋) to interviews. 虽然很多公司并不要求员工都要穿正装,但是对于求职者来说,还是尽量要大方、庄重才好。

  机会只垂青那些有准备的人!你,准备好了吗?

Six Tips for Long-term Investment Success

Tema: Be temos — markjuluirying @ 12:22

1.JPG

Bank savings accounts currently offer paltry rates of interest.  If you put leave all your money in banks it should be safe but will not grow much.  The stock market offers much more interesting returns but because of the element of risk many people avoid it.  Worse still they might enter the market at the top and then sell out later at the bottom.  Here are some simple rules to help you navigate the market and build a large stock portfolio over a long period.

1. Diversify. Spread your risks by investing in a number of stocks in different markets and in mutual funds, bonds and other instruments. A good rule is that no one stock or other investment should be more than 10% of your total portfolio. Invest in different geographic areas such as US, Europe, Asia and emerging markets. Diversify into property funds, commodity funds and hedge funds. This should give you protection against a collapse in any one particular sector.

2. Do your research. Take advice from various sources.  Invest in some companies whose products and strategies you like.  There are a multitude of comparison sites and other resources on the internet to help you to analyse and understand investments. Past performance is no guarantee of future performance but I would generally prefer to choose a mutual fund or unit trust that had been a strong performer over the last two years and which offers low management fees.

3. Run the stars and sell the dogs. Monitor your investments and compare their performances against the market index.  If some of your holdings do well then the temptation is to cash in and take a profit.  It seems natural but if you are in this game for the long term then you want investments that grow over the long term so when you find winners cherish and retain them.  On the other hand you should ditch the dogs that significantly under perform the market.  The temptation is to hold onto them in the hope of a rebound or worse still to increase your holding at the lower price.  This is generally a poor strategy and it is safer to take a small early loss rather than a large one later on.  Do not cling onto stocks for emotional reasons.  Sell the dogs and run with the stars.

4. Reinvest dividends.  A surprisingly large part of the overall growth in most portfolios comes from reinvested dividends rather than in appreciation of the stock prices. A yield of 3% may appear small but over a period it makes a big difference. Choose some investments with a solid history of dividends and use them as the ballast in your ship.

5. Be contrarian. This advice is much easier to give than to observe.  When the stock market is low buy stocks.  When the stock market is high sell your worst performing stocks and buy other investments such as property or bonds.

6. Take the long view. You are in this for the long term so do not make frequent trades – the commission will eat into your funds. Do not follow fads and fashions.  Diversify in a sensible way.  Do not panic when markets occasionally crash – these are buying opportunities for the brave.

Finally be prepared to sell when you eventually need the money.  You invested it to build financial security for you and your family so it is better to use it when needed rather than to scrimp along in order to become the richest man in the cemetery.

A Starting Point

Tema: Be temos — markjuluirying @ 12:21

There are more books and other written works today than there have ever been before. Tomorrow will be a record-setting day, just as will be each day afterward. It’s impossible to read everything ever written, but the number of words we’re expected to take in keep going up just the same. That means that speed reading is a pretty good tool to have in your personal arsenal.

Speed reading isn’t just a matter of cranking up the speed at which your eyes cross a page, though: there are multiple methods for increasing your reading speed. It’s also worth considering that different approaches to reading have both benefits and drawbacks. In general, the methods that allow a person to read faster don’t always provide for the same level of comprehension that slower reading allows.

Barriers to Speed Reading

There are speed reading systems out there that claim they can get you up to reading 20,000 words per minute (about 300 words per minute is typical of a college reader without any speed reading training). At best, that 20,000 words per minute claim allows only for skimming. It’s likely to provide minimal comprehension — rarely useful. More realistic speeds range from 600 to 2,000 words per minute: at those rates a reader can usually comprehend the words on the page.

No matter what approach a particular speed reading system takes, most start with eliminating bad reading practices and then accelerating reading speed through a series of exercises. Bad reading habits can include:

    * Sounding out word out loud as one reads — or subvocalizing
    * Re-scanning over passages already read
    * Moving one’s eyes across the page as one reads
    * Using one reading speed for all reading material

Subvocalization is often considered the biggest barrier to speed reading. Because of the way that reading is taught in most schools — students learn to sound out letters rather than recognize whole words — most readers automatically sound out words, especially those that aren’t in their normal reading vocabulary. Subvocalization, no matter its value for initially learning to read, slows down most readers. That’s because saying a word, whether aloud or subvocally, takes more time than recognizing a word.

Learning to Speed Read

There are thousands of speed reading books, systems and software packages. For the most part, those systems are equally effective. It’s also possible to train yourself in speed reading using resources that you can find online. No matter how you approach learning to speed read, you’ll find that you need to complete (and often repeat) a series of exercises. Most systems rely on a simple set of exercises, repeated at increasing speeds to train your eyes and mind to take in and interpret information faster.

A few free speed reading resources include:

    * Wikibooks’ Speed reading textbook
    * How do you become a better reader? (includes several guides)
    * The SQ3R Reading Method

There are also thousands of books available on the topic of speed reading. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend going out and purchasing any speed reading book that’s on the shelf at your local bookstore. Most libraries carry at least one or two different speed reading books, giving you a chance to take a look at individual approaches and try out exercises before committing yourself.

Speed Reading Software

There are numerous commercial speed reading programs that promise to get your abilities up to a faster level. Prices for such software can vary dramatically: You might find a software package that could do the trick for under $20, but there are just as many packages priced over $200.

There are several common approaches used in commercial software packages. The pioneer of speeding reading software, Vortex Speed Reading, placed words in front of a reader one at a time — the method forces readers to focus on just one spot on a page, rather than moving their eyes to read. Some of the speed reading packages currently available follow Vortex’ model.

Others present words in a serial stream. Still other software options guide readers through lines of text at certain speeds, often highlighting certain words in order to train readers to direct their attention to the center of the page.

These software options can provide you a starting point for study, if you’re interested in taking that route:

    * SpeedRead.org
    * RocketReader
    * The Literacy Company
    * eyeQ

In many cases, the speed at which you read the page of a book will be identical to that at which you read words on a computer screen. However, some readers report being unable to increase their on-screen reading speed beyond 1,000 words — no matter how fast they read pages. The problem seems to be connected to the refresh rates of CRT screens: as a speed reader progresses through the page, ghost images can appear as a result of screen refreshes. It’s a sort of disconnect between the eye and the brain that causes quickly refreshed images to superimpose ghosts. Readers using LCD screens don’t have the problem.

Some readers also find that larger computer monitors impede their speed reading; most speed reading systems recommend that readers rely on peripheral vision to read, rather than running their eyes across a page. With large computer monitors, taking in text at the edges of the screen can prove difficult. A simple fix is reducing the size of the window in which you are reading.

Changing Your Personal Reality - Part 1

Tema: Be temos — markjuluirying @ 12:17

My Head Hurts…

While the subject of “Personal Reality” might seem somewhat esoteric, philosophical and even confusing to some, it’s something that’s not only relevant to every one of us, but also something that impacts on virtually every area of our existence and human experience in a tangible and practical manner. All the time. Just as we each have different DNA, so too do we each inhabit our own “personal” reality. That is, the way we experience our world. Notice I say “our world” because the world and our world are two very different places. For the most part, one is absolute (forgetting that whole global warming thing for a moment) and the other is in a constant state of flux and transition; often changing drastically in a matter of minutes. You and I both know people who exist side by side with someone else (often in the same house), yet each of those people live in a total different reality. You may well be that people. Er, person. Why? Because physical environment (for the most part) doesn’t determine reality, we do. We make things good or bad. Hard or easy. A lesson or a failure. An opportunity or a problem.

A Universal Reality?

How you and I will experience things is determined by each of us individually, not by what “appears” to be going on to the rest of the world. There is no universal reality because every moment of every day you and I are interpreting, processing and reacting individually to a non-stop stream of information and stimuli from our physical world; the place we inhabit. Not to be confused with the place we live; our head. It could be suggested that the majority of our living (how we each experience life) is actually a cerebral, emotional and spiritual experience, not a physical one. Although some people work very hard to make their life all about the physical; which invariably leads to misery (another exploration for down the track).

We Create Hard. And Easy.

Yes there are universal situations, circumstances and events but there is no universal reality because things only have the meaning that we give them. Just as things only have the power (influence, control) in our lives that we allow them to have. Which also means that there are no “difficult” situations (for example); only different situations to which we each react individually. Some well, others not. Difficulty is a human construct; a label that you and I each assign to the various happenings in our world. Despite what most of us believe, there is no universal “hard” or “easy”; only our personal interpretations of, and reactions to, what goes on in our day-to-day practical lives.

Where we Live

By “living in our head” I mean that our experience of the world – that is, how we see various situations, circumstances and events, how we allow those things to affect us, what they mean to us and how we react to it all – is individual, unique and self-determined. Which is why we can see two people going through what appears to be the same experience at the same time (some might erroneously say, the same reality) – a very similar court case for example – yet they are both impacted in totally different ways. One learns a valuable life-lesson, grows emotionally, becomes more aware, compassionate and enlightened, while the other suffers from extreme physical, emotional and psychological stress – all self-created by the way (situations don’t create stress, people do) – loses confidence, becomes angry and bitter and slides into a depressive state for a period of time. Why? Because the two individuals weren’t actually going through the same “experience” at all; they were each creating their own experience. One positive. One negative.

The Puppet

puppet1Until we acknowledge that we each have the power to determine our own reality and create our own experiences, we will continue to be a puppet having our strings pulled by situations, events, circumstances and other people. We will continue to be the Reactor and not the Creator. Step one on the path to enlightenment, consciousness and lasting change (from the inside out) is to acknowledge that we can control our own destiny, we can each create our own reality, our world is not “the” world and our history will only become our future if we allow that to happen. Step two (in the Harper book of life-philosophy) is to understand that good or bad, hard or easy, happiness or misery are all choices – and to then live accordingly. And remember; by not making a decision, you are making a decision. Be mindful that the decisions you don’t make will have just as much impact on your personal reality as the decisions you do make. One way or the other. So don’t delude yourself. If you have the ability to think, reason and choose, then you have the ability to change your personal reality for the better. If you consistently choose to not take action, to not use your potential and to not take back the power you’ve given away, then you vicariously choose mediocrity and misery and have nobody to blame but yourself. Subscribing to the “things will work themselves out” philosophy is ignorant, naive, apathetic and shows a distinct lack of courage.

You are the author of your life. Start writing.

But What About My Sick Aunty?

Okay, I can hear some of you saying “but what about people who are diagnosed with cancer; surely their reality is decided for them?” And I would reply, is their disease their reality? Does it define them? Determine them? Is their reality determined by what’s happening to their (temporary) house? Is it possible for a terminally ill person  to experience joy, pleasure, connection, fulfillment and happiness? A personal reality of calm and contentment perhaps? Of course it is. One of life’s great curiosities is that we often see terminally ill people who are much happier (happiness being the one universal goal) than their healthy counterparts. Why? Because they have let go of that which made them unhappy; fear, insecurity, greed, anger, bitterness… ego; the destructive crap. They have created a new reality to inhabit. A much better one. While they will deal with the disease in a practical and intelligent manner, they will also have an ever-present awareness that they are not their body or their disease, therefore they do not need to be miserable. And yes, I know that this paradigm messes with our very Western thinking but that is our loss – and another example of logic and science getting in the way of potential. Cultures much more evolved than ours have understood and embraced this wisdom forever.

One Doesn’t (need to) Equal the Other

In truth, the absence of physical disease doesn’t necessarily equate to happiness or success (we see evidence of this every day), just as the presence of disease doesn’t necessarily equate to misery or catastrophe. So while cancer may affect my body, there is no need for it to determine my reality. I will choose my reality, my reality will not choose me. A disease is not me and I am not it. Just as the chair that I currently sit on is not me, neither are cancerous cells that might inhabit my body, me. While others may rationalise misery and catastrophe, I will choose happiness and calm. Because I have that option. Because my reality is my choice.

Stephen Hawking Predicts the End of Humanity,

Stephen Hawking, brilliant astrophysicist and nefarious alien doomsday prophet, is again atop his soapbox preaching the end of humanity should we not board spaceships and colonize the solar system and beyond.

He’s made the "get your ass to Mars or anywhere else but earth, humanity or die" prophecy claim before, mind you, but this time around he’s fine tuned it with a time range: Two centuries.

Health Top Tips Nutrition Love Lifestyle Happiness Weight Loss

As in, if we can manage to survive on this rock for another two centuries without annihilating ourselves, we will stand a good chance at colonizing space and surviving even longer UGG Handbags .

"The human race shouldn’t have all its eggs in one basket, or on one planet. Let’s hope we can avoid dropping the basket until we have spread the load," he said in an interview with BigThink:

9 Science Fiction That Came True

Tema: Be temos — markjuluirying @ 00:37

1.jpg

Want to predict the future? Maybe you should head to the movies or crack open a book.

Before technology can be tested in a lab, it has to be hatched in someone’s brain. And, often, those brains don’t belong to scientists and product developers, but to imaginative science fiction writers and movie makers.

Sometimes it’s deliberate and sometimes it’s not, but science fiction writers and scientists have long mirrored each others’ work.

"It’s incestuous," said science fiction writer and futurist Brenda Cooper. "I think there’s a sort of constant dialogue that goes on with science fiction writers and scientists and product designers."

A complete list of all the science fiction prophecies that came true would fill pages. But check out some of our favorite recent examples below.

‘Minority Report’-Like Software Fights Crime

It sounds like the basis of Steven Spielberg’s 2002 film "Minority Report": a police unit dedicated to uncovering crimes before they even happen.

But for police officers with the Memphis Police Department, this is almost reality. Instead of relying on human-like psychics, however, the officers rely on a sophisticated computer program.

It evaluates a wide range of factors – data on arrests, reported crime, probation, parole and even the weather – and then helps law enforcement identify patterns in crime as well as potential hotspots.

"If you can identify what kinds of crimes are occurring in a location, what days they are occurring and what time frame [in which] they are occurring, you really do have a sense of where to put the police," said Richard Janikowski, director of the Center for Community Criminology and Research at the University of Memphis.

The predictive analytics software, called CRUSH (for Criminal Reduction Utilizing Statistical History), is owned by IBM but has been adapted by the police department.

IBM and the Memphis Police Department announced this month that, since the program started in 2006, crime in Memphis has dropped 30 percent overall and violent crime has declined about 15 percent. Janikowski said organization and leadership changes contributed to the decrease in crime, but the technology played a significant role.

Digital Billboards

Next time you go to Japan, you might have your very own "Minority Report" moment. Japanese railway companies are trying digital billboards that can determine the gender and age of people looking at them and then show them customized advertisements.

According to the Agence-France Presse, a group of 11 companies launched a one-year pilot of these high-tech billboards last month.

Unlike the billboards that called out to Tom Cruise’s character in "Minority Report," these boards can’t identify individual people. But, using cameras, they can determine an onlooker’s sex and approximate age and then offer up an appropriate ad.

Flying Car Company Unveils Latest ‘Roadable Aircraft’

Flying Cars

So it’s not the saucer-shaped vehicle George Jetson took to work. The skies are still waiting to welcome cars that fly.

This week, Terrafugia, a leading flying car company in Woburn, Mass., unveiled its most recent "roadable aircraft."

The dual-purpose vehicle is equally comfortable on the road and in the sky. Its wings can fold up to let the aircraft drive on the road and fit in a garage. The wings extend so that the Terrafugia can take flight.

The company said the vehicle, recently approved by the Abercrombie & Fitch  Federal Aviation Administration, reaches 115 mph in flight.

3-D Printing

Imagine that you’re on a camping trip in the middle of the woods and realize that you forgot to pack a screwdriver. Or you’re hours away from home when your car breaks down and you need just one crucial part.

Cooper said that it might not be so long before a 3-D printer lets you create those objects on the spot.

In "Star Trek," Captain Kirk and his comrades called them replicators. But Cooper said military officers might soon be able to use 3-D printers to manufacture parts they need for their tanks while fighting wars in the desert.

"I think it’s kind of where PCs were 20 years ago," she said. "I think we’re going to see this become much more capable really fast."

For example, a Brooklyn, New York-based company called Makerbots sells 3-D printer kits for about $1,000 that let people "print" 3-D plastic objects. Once customers assemble the kit, they feed the machine a 3-D design. The company says the Makerbots can create almost anything that’s four by four by six inches.

Though most 3-D printers mostly deal in plastics, Cooper said printers that produce metal objects — and even human organs — could be down the road.

Space Tourism

In the sci-fi classic, "2001: A Space Odyssey," a Pan Am space plane shuttles passengers to a space station. We’re not there quite yet, but thanks to commercial space pioneers like Sir Richard Branson and Elon Musk, we’re getting closer.

Branson’s Virgin Galactic is testing spaceships that ed hardy clothing   could carry tourists on suborbital flights and, according to the Associated Press, already has a list of 300 clients willing to pay for the $200,000 ticket.

Musk’s SpaceX reached a major milestone in June, when one of its rockets achieved Earth orbit as planned. At the time, Musk said the successful maiden voyage bolstered President Barack Obama’s plan to give private companies contracts to carry cargo and people to the space station.

"That makes you think of these sci fi heroes that could always design spaceships to go off planet," said Cooper. "That used to be something we wrote a lot about."

Motion-Controlled Computing Reaches Consumer Electronics

Gesture computing and control is another fiction-becomes-reality kind of technology.

"Gestural computers – computers that respond to hand gestures – that’s become associated with the ‘Minority Report,’" said Annalee Newitz, editor-in-chief of the popular tech blog io9.com. "Actually, the first time that people probably saw computers like that was in ‘The Day the Earth Stood Still.’"

In that 1951 black-and-white film, she said, one of the characters simply uses his hands to manipulate data on a massive computer screen. In "Minority Report," Tom Cruise’s character pulls on a glove and then is able to do the same thing.

The average computer may still come with a keyboard, but more and more technology is becoming motion-controlled.

Last month, Microsoft launched Kinect, its new game controller that recognizes players’ gestures and voices. Even Apple’s multitouch iPhone, laptop trackpads and new Magic Trackpad use technology that responds to users’ hand and finger movements.

Newitz said MIT’s MediaLab is taking that kind of innovation even further with an experimental "invisible" computer mouse. "Mouseless" lets a user control a cursor on a computer screen by moving her empty hand across a table the way she would move a real mouse.

The MediaLab’s Sixth Sense project goes beyond even that. With a wearable projector and camera, it lets users turn any surface (even a hand or arm) into a touchscreen control panel.

Robots

An essential sci-fi staple, robots are increasingly finding their way into real-life scenarios, both at home and at work.

In May, researchers in Germany presented an "autonomous robot car" with sensors, scanners and camera systems that could potentially help avoid military fatalities from bombings. In Japan, a 4-foot-tall robot called I-Fairy led a wedding ceremony.

"I can go to Costco and buy a robot to clean the floor… ghd ghds in Japan, they’re beginning to expand with medical robot," said Cooper.

While Asian countries are friendlier to robots that Western countries, she said, we’ll continue to see more and more innovation in robotics.

Synthetic Biology

Frankenstein may seem like a far cry from reality but, in truth, scientists have already learned how to create an organism from man-made DNA.

In a small but important step in synthetic biology, in May, scientists from the J. Craig Venter Institute created the very first cell totally derived from DNA synthesized in a lab.

Did Science Fiction Predict the Demise of the Phsyical Book?

"Synthetic biology is really making a lot of strides," said Newitz. "It goes all the way back to Frankenstein – the original synthetic creature."

Scientists aren’t going to turn out a whole human being anytime soon, but Newitz said that they have "grown" organs – such as lungs and a heart – for living lab rats. Those techniques could potentially lead to the reconstruction of organs for human patients.

Tablets and E-Books

From the "Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy" to "Star Trek" to "Minority Report," the sci-fi genre has long promised an iPad-like computer that can be held in your hands.

But Bill Christensen, a Web application developer and owner of Technovelgy.com, a website on science fiction innovations, said electronic books were written about by a science fiction writer decades ago.

In the 1961 novel, "Return from the Stars," he said Stanislaw Lem predicted the end of the physical book.

"No longer was it possible to browse among shelves, to weigh volumes in hand, to feel their heft, the promise of ponderous reading. The bookstore resembled, instead, an electronic laboratory. The books were crystals with recorded contents. They can be read the aid of an opton, which was similar to a book but had only one page between the covers. UGG Handbags Classic Tall Ugg Boots At a touch, successive pages of the text appeared on it," Lem writes.

"That sounds pretty much like a Kindle to me and that’s fifty years ago," said Christensen.

This week, he said, the reference was even more striking: For the first time ever, Amazon said it sold more electronic books in the last quarter than hardcovers.

Positive Energy

Tema: Be temos — markjuluirying @ 01:12

Cultivating positive energy: Most of us who study Yoga have been taught that an abundance of Prana (vital air or vital energy), can be found at the ocean, lakes, large open fields, and in the mountains.

Although the air is different, this same energy can be found where people assemble for a positive reason. For example: when people assemble to meditate or pray.

You can feel it in your home, at a church, mosque, temple, shrine, ashram, seminar, martial arts hall, etc. This is when people bond in a mass for the common good. The energy can be used to help humanity and our little planet for the best. You can project this energy outward by acts of kindness every moment of your life. This is not to say, you allow yourself to be abused. You can be kind to everyone who comes into your life, without becoming a "doormat."

You have influence over a limited number of people who you see in a day. Why not make every contact a harmonious and positive experience?

Some examples would be:

Stop making foul gestures, becoming angry, and swearing when another driver on the road has irritated you.

Don’t take advantage of respect with anyone.

Treat everyone as special - no matter what their economic status.

In regard to your next question: What is the mystery behind attracting positive energy?

To be honest, there isn’t one, but I will give you the formula.

Firstly, you have to realize that you have infinite potential, and it comes from within. You also have unlimited potential from the outside, when you engage in prayer, and meditation, on a daily basis. Prayer and meditation will positively charge you, and you will contribute to the benefit of others as a result of it.

In turn, all of this helping of others will result in finding people around you who are more than willing to give you a helping hand.

The following ideas will cultivate positive energy around you.

Make it a point to wake up in the morning with excitement and say hello to everyone you come into contact with. This goes for the security guard, janitor, maid, garage attendant, cashier at the store, and anyone you may overlook in the course of your day.

Stop criticizing your family members, co-workers, friends, and associates.

Be diplomatic first, before giving any advice.

Let your family know that you love them everyday.

Be sincere and treat everyone as important.

Take time to give to people. This doesn’t have to be expensive. You could give a sincere compliment, a card, a letter, or flowers. Become a trustworthy partner with family, friends, co-workers and associates.

Set goals - whether they are tangible or not. It is a healthy practice to have goals at any age. The final results will be that your positive energy will attract positively charged personalities and successful people will seek you out. If this is a major change for you, it will not happen overnight.

Let me share a related Zulu saying: "Patience is an egg that hatches great birds."

Why should you become an eternal optimist?

Every one of us has a choice. When you fall down, you must pick yourself up. You can’t blame life’s hurdles or obstacles - you have to find solutions to get over, around, under, or through them.

Focus on your past achievements and learn to be happy with yourself. Everyone has failed, at some point, but we must constructively learn from our past experience.

Your individual approach, to life’s daily obstacles, is the gateway to success or failure. Therefore, success is a matter of choice.

Building Positive Energy

In relation to what most of us see as Classic Tall Ugg Boots is unlimited. When primal man first discovered fire, could he imagine the concept of a forge? When modern man discovered the forge, could he imagine sky scrappers?

To build positive energy for pursuit of common goals and success, you need a support group. Find and seek out like-minded people.

My first taste of Yoga was over 40 years ago, at the ghds in a martial arts school setting. I have continued to study martial arts until this day and I have four teaching certificates in four different martial arts. Now I teach both Martial Arts and Yoga. I began to seriously practice Yoga (under Laura Foster) over twenty years ago due to martial arts competition related injuries.

Laura was a skilled & knowledgeable teacher of Restorative Hatha Yoga, Raja Yoga, and Laya Yoga. After training with her for 3 years, she certified me as a teacher in 1987.

I became certified as a Master Teacher (Guru) on September 15, 1995, after teaching over 5,000 hours under her wing. Shortly afterward, Laura retired at age 90. Since that time, I started organizing Yoga Teacher Training camps. As time went on, we began getting requests from everywhere in the U.S. and Canada for a comprehensive Yoga Teacher Training correspondence course.
